Part of Hitchin Town Football Club's newly-improved Top Field ground may have to be demolished because the alterations were made without planning permission - and people living nearby claim the new style ground is noisier, reports BBC Three Counties.
North Hertfordshire DC planning committee met last night to discuss the problem. It is possible it will order the club to demolish the concrete terracing built behind the goal and new safety barriers and fencing.
The committee refused to grant retrospective permission for the alterations and decided to refer the matter to the environmental health committee.
A spokesman for the football club - which has already defeated Football League team Bristol Rovers in this year's FA Cup - said the club would appeal against the refusal at a public inquiry.
