Glasgow City Council has approved plans for the installation of£9m of computer infrastructure for the city's secondary schools, reports The Herald (p6).

With the business plan for a£1.3bn public/private education project about to be published, the city council is keen to get computer studies up and running in existing schools in time for the start of the next school year.

Under the long-term plans, the consortium 3Ed will build two new schools, refurbish the remainder and maintain them over a 29-year period.
