Scotland on Sunday (p1) speculates that Gaille McCann, a Glasgow City councillor, is to be appointed director of Scotland Against Drugs, the fundraising campaign group.

The paper says it is understood that Henry McLeish, Scottish Office minister, would welcome Mrs McCann's application for the post.

The paper says that If McCann is given the job, it will provoke a storm of outrage becuase of her position as co-ordinator of Greater Eastrhouse Community Health Project and chair of the Cranhill Community Council, both of which were criticised for financial mismanagement after£16,000 of public money went missing.
