Labour's Scottish spokesman George Robertson asked Scottish minister Raymond Robertson about the level of council rent arrears in Scotland as at 31 March 1996 (Hansard written answers 27 Jan, column 70).

The full figures listed by Mr Robertson in response showed the City of Glasgow being owed the largest amount of money at£10.7m, with 64,900 households owing the council rent.

Next came Kirkcaldy, owed£1.8m from 8,500 households, and the City of Edinburgh followed, being owed£1.65m from 18,500 households.
