Gloucestershire CC yesterday set its budget at the government imposed spending limit of£326m.

The council adopted the budget proposed by the Liberal Democrats group.

Primary and secondary schools will benefit from funding some£670,000 higher than the government imposed common funding formula.

The council continued the principle of funding the LEA schools at the same level as the grant maintained schools.

All other council services were required to make reductions to meet the government spending limit.

However the level of reduction would have been significantly higher if the council had not agreed to use some of the anticipated proceeds from the sale of the waste company to support the existing level of services.
