Goole Town Council is to take legal action against its former town clerk to recover 'substantial financial losses' from him following his dismissal for gross misconduct last year after allegations that he overpaid himself.

The Yorkshire Post (p5) reports that the council intends to issue legal proceedings to 'recover its losses in repect of his unauthorised remuneration and pension arrangements'.

The decision was made after a report was drawn up by East Riding Council's director of law and administration.
