Local and health authorities spent £120m on management consultants last year and the government 'wasted' £65m on consultancy fees, says The Times Guide to the New British State, according to a review in The Times (p41).

The book details the extent to which the government has failed comprehensively in its aims to cut public spending, the number of quangos and other public bodies. Every initiative has had the opposite effect of that intended.

It lists every government office and public body, and lists names, addresses and telephone numbers of who to contact.
