Commenting on a survey* from the CPRE showing that there is enough land to build 280,000 new homes without using more greenfield land, Conservative housing spokesman Geoffrey Clifton-Brown said:

'These figures demonstrate that there is enough land to build over a quarter of a million new homes without sacrificing more precious greenfield land. Given this only a government of extreme incompetence would fail to protect our green fields.

'Once again it is shown that the deputy prime minister's policy of concreting over our green fields is unnecessary, unfair and unforgivable'.
