The government's annual record of achievements is to go on sale at Tesco, reports The Times (p2).

The report, which charts the government's performance over the past 12 months, will be sold for£5 in the supermarkets.

Last year's annual report, like most government documents, was sold at the Stationary Office for£5.95 and some booksellers.

Andrew Coker of Tesco said that Downing Street had asked the chain to stock the report. 'We are happy to do anything we can to help customers read a really interesting document. It will be alongside other reading matter, not among the baked beans and not on the top shelf,' he said.
