Former Camden LBC director of social services Jane Held has been appointed interim director of regulation at the General Social Care Council.
Ms Held, who quit Camden last Christmas under controversial circumstances (LGC, 9 January), will play a lead role in the GSCC's bid to register all social workers by April 2005.
Speculation about her departure from Camden has focused on the council's fall from three stars to two in last year's social services star-ratings.
Her temporary appointment is part of a managerial shake-up at the GSCC.
Former director of standards and regulation Mike Wardle has been appointed deputy chief executive and director of strategy, and the council will seek to recruit a permanent director of regulation during Ms Held's tenure.
