Hackney LBC has reached a settlement with a man who claimed he was discriminated against because he was Irish and HIV positive.

The Hackney Gazette (p1) reported that David Morgan took legal action after he applied for a security guard/receptionist's job in December last year and failed to be shortlisted for interview.

He claimed he was qualified for the job and had followed instructions to include details of his HIV status on the application form.

He was reputed to have settled for a five-figure sum over his claim, but both he and the council refused to comment about the settlement.
