Lorraine Langham, chair of the local government group of the Institute of Public Relations has been promoted to executive director at Hackney LBC, reports PR Week magazine (p2).
Currently head of communications at the council, Langham will relinquish most of her PR responsibilities and will have a roving brief across all areas of the council. She will be responsible for overseeing the work of eight service directors and will have a remit to take executive control of failing services or lead on projects like regeneration.
Marina Pirotta, currently communications mager at Newham LBC, will take on some of her present responsibilities as assistant chief executive. These appointments are part of a general restructuring of the council, PR Week explains. Pirotta is quoted: 'The Transforming Hackney programme is by far the most radical change in local government and I am very excited about being able to make a contribution to driving it forward.'
