A Hartlepool BC Labour councillor accused of fraud has been given bail by magistrates, reported The Northern Echo (18 January, p3).

Bernard Carr is accused of six counts of obtaining property by deception, and one of attempted deception.

The charges are related to offences which are alleged to have taken place between July 1995 and August 1996.

Mr Carr was given unconditional bail and will appear at before magistrates again on 26 March.
