Hartlepool BC is to seek showdown talks with the District Auditor seeking answers over the Cleveland CC 'miss-spent millions' saga, Hartlepool announced today.

The call follows the long-awaited District Auditor's report into how antiicpated reserves of o10 million had dwindled to just o265,000. The money was due to be shared between four successor unitary authorities, Hartlepool, Stockton-on-Tees, Redcar and Cleveland and Middlesbrough.

The report has not satisfied Hartlepool councillors. It states reasons for the shortfall include overspending and savings not materialising equating to o5.2 million, extra redundancy and compensation costs amounting to o1.2 million and a o1 million DSO deficit.
