Facilities management firm Jarvis is to set up a partnership with Herefordshire Council to deliver a range of services including highways management and schools catering.

Jarvis is preferred bidder for the partnership, which could be worth £135m over 10 years. More than 500 staff will transfer to Jarvis when the contract is finalised.

Jarvis chief executive Paul Moayedi said: 'We are very well positioned to convert the new [public sector] opportunities into additional revenue.'

Herefordshire's chief executive Neil Pringle said there is a 'cultural fit' between Jarvis and the council.
