More than a third of training and enterprise council chief executives have resigned or been sacked since Tecs were established four years ago, according to figures disclosed by the DoE yesterday, reports the Financial Times (p9).

Of the 82 chief executives recruited since Tecs were established in 1990, 35 have quit.

The DoE denies that the high turnover indicates a failure in the recruitment policies of the Tecs' boards, composed mainly of private-sector senior executives.
