HIGHWAYS AGENCY: KEEP TRAFFIC ON THE MOVE OVER EASTER

  • Comment
Most lanes on England's motorway and trunk road network will be open ...
Most lanes on England's motorway and trunk road network will be open

over the Easter and May bank holidays so that motorists have as easy

and as comfortable a journey as possible, the Highways Agency

announced today.

Highways Agency chief executive Peter Nutt said:

'We always aim to keep as many lanes as possible open across the

motorway and trunk road network over bank holidays, as traffic levels

tend to be significantly higher than normal. As Easter and the May

bank holiday are so close this year we are lifting works from April

20 until May 2. Obviously, some schemes have had to be kept in place,

these have been adjusted to minimise disruption'.

Motorists are urged to plan ahead before they start their journeys.

Up-to-the-minute advice on roadworks and conditions on the network

can be obtained by contacting the Highways Agency Information Line.

The line is open from 8am until 8pm weekdays and between 9am and 5pm

on bank holidays and at weekends.

The Highways Agency Information Line can be contacted by telephoning

its new number: 08457 504030, or via the website on

www.highways.gov.uk
