A child abuse victim is planning to sue Islington LBC, in whose children's homes he spent eight years, for allegedly failing to protect him against sexual abuse.

The Daily Telegraph reported (8 April p8) that Demetrious Panton intends to summon former council leader Margaret Hodge as a witness, as well as current councillor Stephen Twigg.

Mr Panton personally protested about years of abuse and complaints that were ignored to cllr Twigg - who was until recently Mrs Hodge's parliamentary assistant - at his surgery in 1992.

Cllr Twigg told the Telegraph he now regretted not pursuing the matter: 'He has clearly suffered appallingly and I wish that I'd taken it up in a more active way at the time.'
