Following a successful meeting of chief constables and chairs of
police authorities entitled 'Policing - The Way Ahead', home office
minister John Denham said yesterday:
'Today's meeting will give the reform process some real momentum. I
have been interested to hear the views of police authorities and
chief constables and am confident that we can work together to
modernise the service, giving the police the tools they need to crack
crime and do their job properly. It is clear that we share a common
vision but everyone recognises that there are some difficult issues
to tackle.'
