Hounslow LBC is to sue a traffic warden for the return of money it claims he has siphoned off from parking meters under his charge, reported the Sun (April 18, p13).

Money from the borough's parking meters is said to have vanished between January 1991 and February 14 this year and the employee in question is currently on remand in Wormwood Scrubs prison, facing five charges.

The council is seeking a high court order banning the man from selling

possessions up to a value of£250,000 and to repay all money 'wrongfully' taken from the authority's meters and parking machines.
