Clauses 41 to 48 of the Housing Bill, which were intended to give the Housing Corporation powers to appoint a manager to any housing association which defaulted on loans, have been postponed, reports the Financial Times (p15).

The move to delay consideration of the clauses followed reports yesterday of financial institutions' concern that such managers would be able to override lenders' powers to take possession of secured assets.

The government says it will now consult on the issue prior to drawing up suitable amendments.
