Lord James Douglas-Hamilton reported the gross total expenditure on Scottish housing by councils and housing associations in each year since 1979 (1993 prices) using GDP deflators. (5 Nov, WA col 247).
Housing minister, George Young, gave information on supplementary credit approvals being made available for housing purposes to councils in 1993-94. (5 Nov, WA col 319). For example, Estate Action has £185.2 and flats over shops - to bring empty accommodation back into use - has £10m.
Sir George also reported (in tables, WA col 321) local authority gross housing capital expenditure for new house building and renovation in England, 1979-80 to 1992-93. The minister reported the forecasts in the Housing Corporation's published development programme for 1994-95 and 1995-96 (1992-93 prices) as £1,729m and £1,588m respectively. These figures exclude any private financed housing associations.
