Isle of Wight Council will be prosecuted after a man was electrocuted in a public toilet, reports the Portsmouth News (p5).

Glen Pelmear, 33, received a 240-volt shock when he touched the steel cubicle wall in Ryde.

The health and safety executive investigated the death believed to have been caused by faulty wiring.

The HSE will take the unitary authority to court under a provision of the 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act, for failing to ensure the safety of persons not in its employ.
