Kingston upon Hull City Council has exonerated its social services chairman of any wrongdoing after he took a free holiday at a Spanish villa owned by a manager of a children's home.
Danny Brown took a two-week holiday at the villa of Peter Combes, a manager with Newlands Homes, which has children placed in its care by Hull social services.
Mr Brown said he took advice from the town clerk and listed the trip in the register of public gifts and hospitality. The registration says the two have been friends for years.
A complaint was made to the Labour Party regional office. Mr Brown and his partner and fellow councillor Lynda Wilson were summoned for an explanation. Mr Brown said: 'I am disgusted the complaint came from one of my Labour colleagues.'
