The deputy headteacher suspended for two years for her campaign against alleged fiddling by caretakers returned to work yesterday - for three hours.

The Yorkshire Post reports (p1) that Jennifer Watson, who claims she was fighting a campaign against an alliance of vested interests made up of Humberside CC, unions, and governors, was re-suspended after refusing to sign a new job description that would remove responsibility for ancillary staff from her control.

The headteacher and chair of governors have now accused Mrs Watson of pushing her luck by refusing to compromise for the sake of peace, reports the Post.

They say it would be unreasonable to expect the caretakers to work for her. Mrs Watson used videotapes and tripwires to catch staff not on duty at times they claimed they were.

The dispute has already cost the council an estimated £150,000.
