The Compost Capsule has been designed and produced by the department of planning, transport and economic strategy to encourage people to compost their green garden waste. Around 20% of all waste sent to landfill sites is green garden waste, and with landfill costs continuing to rise, local authorities, such as Warwickshire, are looking at ways to encourage gardeners to reduce the amount of garden waste they produce.
Some of the Compost Capsule's many features include:
supplied flat packed; easy to assemble; compact design makes it ideal for a small garden, but equally valuable in a large garden; produces 165 litres of high quality compost in as little as six weeks; comes with instructions and information for use.
Alison Hallam, Wasteline campaign manager, said: 'The bin is aimed at people who are new to composting, but even if you have composted before, it is a cheap and effective way of adding to your capacity.'
David Scott, head of environmental strategy, added: 'The recycled garden promotes cost effective and environmentally friendly gardening. I am sure it will make a huge impression with everyone who visits it.'
The plants on the stand are being supplied by Hintons Bros, Landscape Gardeners and Nurserymen, Guys Cliffe, Coventry Road, Warwick, CV34 5YL.
