There is no case for dismantling the present system of registering and inspecting social services authorities, the Association of County Councils is to tell the government.

Responding to the government discussion paper on social services inspection arrangements, Moving forward, ACC social services committee chair Jack Bury said:

'There is room for improvement, of course, but the founding principle of the arrangements must stay. Registration and inspection must stay locally based and democratically accountable to local authorities.'
