Liberal Democrat education spokesman, Don Foster, has accused the schools inspectorate of being too critical of schools and teachers, reports the Guardian (p7).

Mr Foster made his remarks as the National Association of Schoolmasters and Women Teachers began its annual conference, telling delegates that the Office for Standards in Education needed to be more supportive of teachers and schools as they tried to improve their performance.
