Mr Alltimes has been acting up in the role since June and was previously director of social services with the council. He has been with Hammersmith & Fulham LBC since joining as a social services manager in 1976.
He said: 'I am delighted to have this opportunity to take over as managing director. Hammersmith & Fulham is an excellent council and its strength is the creativity and commitment of the staff.'
Council leader Andrew Slaughter said: 'Geoff's great track record over the years with social services and his seamless handling of acting in the role as managing director impressed us greatly. Having spent over 25 years working at every level within the council, his experience and local knowledge made him the best candidate.'
