Inverclyde UA leader Harry Mulholland has challenged the Scottish secretary to see for himself how the council plans to provide efficient public services, The Herald reports (p12).

Mr Mulholland said that comments made by Michael Forsyth at the Conservative conference this week were 'inaccurate and certainly unhelpful at a time of great uncertainty for local government employees throughout Scotland'.
