South Wight BC has been awarded £90,000 from the profits of the National Lottery.

The award will go towards the £142,800 cost of refurbishing a clubhouse and building a utility room at the Totland Bowling and Boxing Club, near Freshwater.

Today's awards mark the beginning of a series of monthly grants to be made by the Sports Council from its lottery sports fund which looks set to total over £125m by the year end.

The majority of the grants are for less than £100,000 reflecting the Sports Council's commitment to maximum community benefit throughout the country.
