Islington LBC and outgoing chief executive Leisha Fullick have denied she was asked to leave her job.

Ms Fullick and the council have issued a statement saying that the time was right for the authority to appoint a new chief executive, but also acknowledging her achievements.

It said: 'The facts were that the council recognised her achievements to date and all parties agreed that with a new four-year term ahead this was the right time to appoint a new chief executive.'

The council denies she was told by leaders that her services were no longer required (LGC, 28 June).
