The mother of the baby who died last year of neglect while under the care of Islington Social Services was put on probation for three years at the Old Bailey yesterday, the Guardian reports (p8).

The 37-year-old women and her husband, aged 44, were convicted in February of causing the death of their son. The father was jailed for seven years for manslaughter.

Islington Area Child Protection Committee has commissioned an independent review into the role of all the agencies involved with the baby and family. Its finding should be made public this summer.
