Itinerant 'new age' travellers are trying to play a big part in stopping road building schemes, the Daily Telegraph reports (p6).

The paper says that the travellers have set up an unofficial network on fast response teams or 'tribes' to go to areas where construction is about to begin.

Now a contingent is planning to get involved in a campaign to stop the building of a link road for the M11 through the London boroughs of Hackney, Wanstead and Waltham Forest and parts of Epping Forest, the Telegraph reports.
