ITnet, suppliers of IT and managed services to local government, has won the most sought-after document management contract with the UK's largest authority.

Valued at up to£1.5m, the contract will provide the authority with a fully integrated, 250 seat, case management and document imaging system for the city's revenues department. The ITnet service is the only business-led, case-orientated document management solution to be marketed to local government.

Case management encourages the focus of attention to be placed on the individual customer whilst still managing the process, making it ideal for BCC's revenues department. All information relating to an individual's case can be shown on one screen, allowing staff to answer enquiries in a responsive and helpful manner increasing customer satisfaction and staff productivity.

Barry Powell, assistant director of finance, Birmingham City Council, commented: 'ITnet looked at our requirements from a business perspective and have provided a solution which meets those needs. This service will provide: significant cost savings, a reduction in paper flow, increased staff motivation and improved customer service for more than one million citizens.'

Rod Watts, local government director, ITnet, said: 'The technology is important, but the way we focused on how to help Birmingham transform its business is what I believe won us this key decision. I believe this radical new approach to document management is what the market has been waiting for and ITnet is ideally placed to deliver what its customers want.'
