Orthodox jews in north London have won the right to form an inner sanctuary or 'eruv' to enable them observe the sabbath and be less constrained in their activities on their holiest of days, reported

Members of the strict orthodox wing have campaigned for eight

years to have the boundary created amid bitter controversy and last week plans for the eruv were passed by Barnet LBC. Subject to final approval it could be erected within six months.
