Local government facilities management firm John Doyle Group has split into two, saying it needs to 'focus more sharply' on different market sectors.

Under the demerger, Stelio Stefanou, who owns and runs the company with his brother Stef, becomes chief executive of a new firm, Accord Plc.

Accord will include a range of John Doyle enterprises, including Islington Cleansing Services, HighGround Contracting, Taskforce Eden, JDM Midlands, Accord Southern and Prismo Doyle.

The John Doyle Group will continue to operate, but as a construction and building projects group owned and managed by Stef Stefanou.

Former Audit Commission chairman Roger Brooke becomes Accord's non-1executive chairman, in a bid to help the firm acquire a full stockmarket listing.
