The Evening Standard reports (p6) on accusations that the Labour party has dropped a number of black councillors to escape a 'white racist backlash' at next May's elections.

Research by the paper has revealed that Camden, Haringey, Greenwich, Islington, and Waltham Forest, have deselected 30 black councillors.

The chairman of the Association of London Authorities black councillors is to meet London Labour party secretary today to discuss the fears, the paper reports.
