Bangladeshi councillors in Tower Hamlets have been asked by Labour Party officials to resign and make way for white candidates, the Observer claims.

The newspaper says the move, which is intended to defuse mounting racial tension in Tower Hamlets, will cause the Labour Party some embarrassment on the eve of its conference.
