Senior Labour officials have rejected claims that leader Tony Blair would sideline left wing shadow cabinet members if elected to government, reports The Guardian (p14).

Speculation has tagged some Labour spokespeople as likely to be left out of a Blair cabinet for being too left-leaning, among them environment spokesman Frank Dobson, Michael Meacher and Clare Short.
