It is alleged Labour Party officials have barred two Islington LBC members from standing for election to the Greater London Assembly, according to The Highbury and Islington Express (p17).

It is claimed that Labour members Nigel Mason and Talal Karim, the authority's deputy leader, have been told they cannot stand. Under party rules neither can comment on the outcome of their application.

Mr Mason may have been done down by his inexperience, says the paper, or his job as a union rep and former life as MP Jeremy Corbyn's election agent could have counted against him.
