The Sun (p10) reports that the Labour party may 'kill off' the millennium dome by refusing to give it lottery cash if the party wins the next election.

The paper reports that shadow heritage secretary Jack Cunningham is to tell organisers that he will not allow lottery funds or taxpayers money to be frittered away.

'We have grave concerns about it and won't sign a blank cheque,' a Labour source told the paper.

Heritage secretary Virginia Bottomley has earmarked£200m of lottery money for the project and will decide within days whether the millennium exhibition will take place.

A go ahead for the scheme is unlikely without a pledge of support from Labour.
