The Western Mail (p2) reports that the Labour party is considering legal action against two local authorities to prevent two by-elections in which there are to be no Labour candidates.

Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Democrats are due to contest elections at the end of this month for two seats on Pontypridd town council.

Labour says the elections should never have been called because resignation letters from two Labour councillors were not valid.

Rhondda Cynon Taff CBC called the by-elections after being notified of two vacancies by the Pontypridd town council clerk.
