The Scotsman (p1) reports the Scottish Labour party's announcement of radical measures in its pre-election education proposals.

Plans include redeploying or sacking bad teachers, closing failing schools and imposing an 'educational life plan' on every pupil.

The proposals, drawn up with teachers, parents and local authorities, are expected to please parents, but anger trade unions, the paper reports.

While Labour's opponents are expect to call on the party to explain how it will finance its plans.
