Labour plans to introduce a fast-track approach to dealing with bad neighbours, reports The Scotsman (p7).

It will seek comments on legislative plans under which local authorities and neighbourhoods could take their problems directly to their local sheriff - bypassing the courts.

A sheriff could be asked for a community safety order prohibiting anti-social conduct. A breach could then be prosecuted by the local procurator-fiscal, resulting in rapid action.
