A Lambeth LBC special school no longer has the single pupil which has created the recent controversy, the South London Press (p1) reveals (see earlier LGCNet stories).

The only remaining pupil doesn't attend Enborne Lodge Special School the authority runs in Berkshire. Instead he studies at Newbury Further Education College - but still lives at the Newbury boarding school.

The paper says this has left nine teachers 'giving each other lessons in empty classrooms with Lambeth taxpayers set to foot the bill for them and 29 other staff.'

A Lambeth spokeswoman said: 'Obviously, we will be looking at how this situation came about when we examine the finances of the school and the financial implications of this unfortunate situation.'
