Public Transport Minister, Roger Freeman, has announced Government approval to the sale of Fylde Borough Transport Ltd, the bus company owned by the Fylde Borough Council, to its management.

Fylde Borough Transport has 82 buses in the 'Blue Buses' fleet which operates in Lytham St Annes and in Blackpool. There are also 12 coaches trading as 'Seagull Coaches'.

Change of ownership takes place under the terms of the Transport Act 1985, which allows authorities to sell their Public Transport Companies with the consent of the Secretary of State.

Mr Freeman said: 'I believe that this sale will help continue the successful and efficient operation of bus services in Fylde. I wish every one in the company all success in the private sector.'
