Tendring DC chair Dudley Robson has died aged 59, after a long illness.

The East Anglian Daily Times reports (p10) that Mr Robson served first on Harwich borough and then the town council before becoming mayor in 1993. A former train driver, he was elected to the district council in 1991.

Council vice chair Bill Mixter said: 'He had a calming influence which was very important in the making and changing of policies. He was the most moderate and fairest man I have ever known.'
