Local authorities should not see adult education as an 'easy target' for cutbacks, education junior minister Tim Boswell warned this week in London at a reception to celebrate Adult Learners' Week, reports the Times Educational Supplement (p4).

'Let me be quite clear. LEAs have a duty to provide all types of adult education which does not fall under the Further Education Funding Council's remit,' he said, quoted in the TES.
