Hillingdon LBC chief executive Dorian Leatham has resigned just weeks after the Conservatives gained control.

His relationship with leader Ray Puddifoot (Con) had been raised by the Audit Commission in a 2001 inspection, which said the two men's working relations 'need improvement'.

One councillor said: 'Dorian and Ray did not so much fall out as never fall in.'

Mr Leatham said: 'I am sad to be leaving, but I feel it is time for me to take on new challenges.'

Mr Puddifoot thanked him, 'for all that he has achieved', and named social services and housing director Hugh Dunnachie as acting chief executive.
